The Utah Highway Patrol Association places a roadside memorial at the place where an officer has killed in the line of duty. The American Atheists, Inc has sued the patrolman association to have the memorials removed by force.
Byron Babione, Senior Legal Counsel for Alliance Defense Fund (ADF), commented "The memorials signify the service and death of an officer, and such memorials should not be censored based on the hurt feelings of passersby.”
