Rev. Nick Zientarski, a Roman Catholic priest, offered a prayer during the annual blessing of the community's Christmas (Christ Mass) tree. As soon as Rev. Zientarski mentioned "Jesus," the North Hempstead supervisor, Joe Kaiman, rose to the podium, stating "this is inappropriate," and announced that the annual blessing of the Christmas (Christ Mass) tree is "in no way a religious ceremony."
The town is now in a flurry of complaints against the actions of Kaiman.
