Family Threatened with Fines for Displaying a Lawn Nativity

The Samona family of Novi, Michigan display a Nativity scene on their front lawn every Christmas season. The firm that manages their housing subdivision demanded the removal of the Nativity and threatened fines of $100 per week if not removed. The Samona family required the legal representation of the Thomas More Law Center to force the management firm to recognize the legality of the display and to retract all demands. Edward White, an attorney from Thomas More, observed "The Samonas are a great example for everyone. They showed that people should fight for what they believe in."
