Atheists Sue to Remove Crosses where Police Officers have Died

Steel crosses are planted on the roads where highway patrol officers who have died while on duty, memorializing their ultimate sacrifice for the citizens of Utah. An atheist group has filed a lawsuit to have all the crosses removed, under the guise of separation of church and state.

One family member, Lori Lucas, whose father Tom Rettberg died in February of 2000, stated "My family would be devastated. It would be like disturbing and uprooting my father's coffin."
