Defense Department Support of Boy Scouts Shut-Down by the ACLU

As the Boy Scouts prepare for their National Scout Jamboree, scheduled to begin on July 25th, the American Civil Liberties Union (UCLU) reminded us all of the lawsuit filed against the Department of Defense for their support of the Scouts. U.S. District Judge Blanche Manning issued an order on June 22nd against the Defense Department, stating that sponsorship of the Boy Scouts violates the First Amendment because the Scouts swear an oath to God. The Justice Department and the Scouts expect an appeal.
