University of Wisconsin Denies Funding to Religious Student Groups

The University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire (UWEC) has singled-out religious groups by denying them funds generated from student-fees. To accomplish this, the UWEC Student Senate has changed their rules to deny student-fee funding to student organizations that promotes a “particular ideological, religious, or partisan viewpoint.”

The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) is now working with the university to reverse the student group discrimination. David French, president of FIRE states “UWEC is defying the First Amendment.”
