Americans United for Separation of Church and State sue to Shut-Down Effective Prison Program

The InnerChange Freedom Initiative, presently operating in four states, provides rehabilitation skills to the incarcerated population. According to the Criminal Justice Policy Council, the national recidivism rate (the percentage of ex-offenders who are reincarcerated) is sixty-seven percent. The recidivism rate of those who graduate from the InnerChange Freedom Initiative program is eight percent - an incredibly effect program.

The Americans United for Separation of Church and State is attempting to shut-down the Iowa InnerChange Freedom Initiative by taking them to court. According to Reverend Barry Lynn, director of Americans United, the InnerChange Freedom Initiative is a "blatant violation of the First Amendment and must be shut down."

InnerChange Freedom Initiative is operated by Charles Colson's Prison Fellowship Ministries.
