A Prayer is Uttered and the ACLU Threatens Jail Time

Shane Tycer of the Tangipahoa Parish School system took the PA microphone before a basketball game and said a prayer. The ACLU of Lousiana was outraged, calling the prayer "calculated, un-American and immoral conduct" and threatened the school board with fines and jail time.

Joe Cook, executive director of the ACLU of Louisiana stated the position of the ACLU was "in keeping with our founders’ ideas for religious liberty for all."

ACLU: Punish officials for 'un-American' prayer

According to Gene Mills, president of the Louisiana Family Forum, because the school board "didn't jump up and tackle the member of the public who was in the process of prayer, the ACLU is charging now that they are in contempt."
