Workplace Religious Freedom Act
before Congress
An employees religious bill of rights, the Workplace Religious Freedom Act (WRFA), will be brought before Congress for vote. Senators such as John Kerry (D-Mass.) believe that the courts have eroded the federal civil-rights laws that protect an employees religious rights. Of course opposition does exist. Barry Lynn, president of Americans United for Separation of Church and State opposed the current bill. He believes the WRFA would provide too much freedom of religion. Lynn takes the position that employees should not be allowed to practice their religious beliefs when they conflict with government laws - employees should show allegiance to the State over God.
