The Manhattan Beach school district were raising funds by selling personalized wall tiles. One family purchased six tiles, arranged in the shape of a cross. School officials decided that a cross shape violated the separation of church and state and rearranged the tiles. A federal lawsuit has been files by the Alliance Defense Fund on behalf of the parents for infringing on the free speech of the parents.
Rumor has it the Manhattan Beach school district will be removing the letter t from the alphabet because it violates the separation of church and state.
