Oklahoma City government employees received a memo in November, declaring the policy for respecting people of faith in government positions. The memo declared a complete ban on "nativity scenes, troparia, cherubs, angels, crosses, and any other symbols of clear religious significance."
Byron Babione of the Alliance Defense Fund, the legal firm defending the government employees, commented, "It’s ridiculous that city employees are being told that they cannot display symbols central to their faith during the Christmas season. Allowing employees to exercise their right to express their faith is not a violation of the First Amendment.”
