The McLean Bible Church signed a lease to conduct Sunday Morning worship service at the historic 800 seat Uptown Theater in Washington D.C. When opponent heard of this, they began lobbying the city government to stop this. According to George Idelson, president of the Cleveland Park Citizens Association, "It's the devil we know; it's the devil we love." Eventually the city's zoning administrator Matthew Le Grant, put up the roadblock by requiring that the church apply for special permission to operation in the theater.
"I should have known that Satan wasn't going to take this lying down," Rev. Lon Solomon stated in a recent sermon. "We're going to fight, and we're going to let the Lord Jesus open the door."
