The city of Jacksonville Florida held an anti-violence rally under the banner "Day of Faith" shortly after the death of 8-year-old DreShawna Davis. According to city Mayor John Peyton, this was to instill faith in the community. The New Jersey American Atheists group sued under "separation of church and state." In order to save the city from outrageous legal fees, Florida Mayor John Peyton settled with the New Jersey atheist group.
