Steve Bellone, Babylon New York town supervisor, hung two patriotic banners, one reading "Thank You to Our Troops, God Bless America" and the other reading "God Bless America." Two organizations have registered their complaints - The Long Island chapter of Center for Inquiry, a secular humanist organization seeking "Absolute Separation of Church and State"; and the Freedom From Religion Foundation, an organization of atheists, agnostics committed to the separation of church and state. Bellone has vowed to keep the banners.
