School District Spends Months Deciding "Winter Break" vs. "Christmas Break"

When the South Kitsap WA school changed the entry in the school calendar from "Winter Break" to "Christmas Break," it caused a great commotion. The school board held meetings to listen to supporters and opponents of the term "Christmas Break." After two months of meetings, with cheering and heckling, the board decided to change the name back to "Winter Break."

Among those opposed to the term "Christmas Break" is the Americal Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). Sheldon Levine, ACLU member, threatened the school with a lawsuit over the use of the word "Christmas."
