Jeremy Reynalds, director of Joy Junction, a Christian shelter for the homeless, submitted a want-ad in the Albuquerque Journal newspaper, looking for front office help. What Reynalds did not anticipate was the newspaper editing the ad, removing the reference stating "ministry experience would be helpful" because the newspaper consider it discriminatory. When Reynalds attempted to correct the problem, the newpaper refused to run the unedited copy.
The spokesperson for Joy Junction stated that people need to understand that Joy Junction is "not a social service agency that only deals with physical hunger and need. We're a church organization, a faith-based ministry."
