Andrea Nead worked as a nurse at the Eastern Illinois University (EIU). During her interview for full-time employment with Lynette Drake, Director of Nursing, Nead was asked about dispensing the morning-after pill. Nead indicated that she could not in good conscience dispense the pill. The interview ended and another nurse, one who did not object to the pill, was hired full-time. Frank Manion, an attorney for the American Center for Law and Justice, is representing Nead in a lawsuit, claiming EIU violated her First Amendment right, her 14th Amendment right and federal anti-discrimination laws.
