Trinity Western University (TWU) of Langley, B.C. Canada, holds their students to the Christian standard of refraining from "premarital sex, adultery, and homosexual behavior" while attending the University. The British Columbia College of Teachers (BCCT) manages the standards and certification of teachers. It seems the BCCT is pressuring TWU to encourage student homosexuality, by refusing to certify the teachers education program until the Christian standards are dropped.
Chris Kempling, a teacher and counselor at TWU, wrote a series of letters to the local newspaper, raising concerns about homosexuality. The BCCT review these letters and found Kempling guilty of heinous offences and conduct unbecoming of a member of the BCCT, for raising his concerns. His letters were not on the university campus, but in the local newspaper.
It is expected that Kempling will not receive an objective and intelligent critique by the BCCT. Kempling filed an appeal in B.C. Supreme Court claiming his Rights and Freedoms were violated. "Apparently I'm free to have thoughts, but I just can't tell anybody about them. That's not freedom of speech" - Kempling.
