City's Dickens "A Christmas Carol" Festival conflicts with school district ban on "Christmas"

The Mount Pleasant, Michigan school district issued a ban on all references to "Christmas," "Santa," and "nativity." Unfortunately the city runs their annual Charles Dickens Christmas Festival and the distribution of fliers would violate the schools anti-Christmas policy. City officials went so far as to change the festival name to the "Dickens Holiday Festival" to appease the anti-Christmas policy.

The Alliance Defense Fund sent a letter to city officials, explaining that "Christmas" is constitutional. David Cortman of ADF summed it up "It’s ridiculous that a city thinks its festival named after Charles Dickens’ classic book, A Christmas Carol, has to be renamed a 'holiday' festival in order to appease the agents of political correctness at a local school district."
