Tenants Banned From Reading Bibles in Public Housing

Pearlie Jenkins is a tenant of Barry Towers, in Memphis, Tennessee. For over a year, she has been meeting with other in a weekly Bible study. Somewhere along the line, an anonymous individual registered a complaint and the Memphis Housing Authority banned the gathering, declaring it unconstitutional for tenants to read the Bible together. In order to continue with their weekly meetings, Pearlie has has to escalate her requests, eventually securing assistance from Advocates for Faith and Freedom in a lawsuit against the Memphis Housing Authority.

With all this, Pearlie takes her lead from her Bible - "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart."
