At the International Congress of Catholic Pharmacists,Pope Benedict XVI reminded the pharmacists that they must follow God's moral standards on issues in their profession. The Pope emphasized further that, not only should pharmicists obey their conscience, but must also educate other. A pharmacist cannot "anesthetize consciences," the pope said. This runs counter to the secular culture, which would have all Christians remove their Godly moral obligations at home.
