The Philadelphia area Boy Scout council, known as the Cradle of Liberty Council, have been meeting in the same building on Logan Square since 1928, supporting up to 64,000 scouts. The city has supported the scouts by renting the building to the council for $1 a year. The city of Philadelphia, which hosts an annual Gay Pride festival, began to enforce it's sexual-orientation "anti-discrimination" laws by giving the Boy Scouts an ultimatum - include homosexuals in the group or have the rent raise by $199,999.
The Boy Scout Oath is "I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law." In honor of this oath to God, the scouts have refused to allow homosexuals. The city of Philadelphia would have the scouts renounce their loyalty to God to follow the city's acceptance of sexual-orientation.
