The city of Oakland, California passed a new law that targeting pro-life members who gather outside abortion clinics, providing information to potential abortion clients. Councilwoman Jane Brunner proposed the measure, which would insulate women from hearing the pro-life messages.
Cyrus Johnson, an attorney with Pacific Justice Institute, commented on the decision, "This is the biggest threat to free speech in a generation, and that's not hyperbole. I truly believe that, with regards to the topic of abortion, which is very controversial, this is the government deciding which message can be heard and which message cannot be heard."
