LA Times Teaches Theology to Pope Benedict XVI

The November 14th Los Angeles Times published an editorial which instructed Pope Benedict XVI in how he should live out his faith while visiting the United States. The editorial puts words in the mouths of American Catholics with statements such as "many American Catholics hope that the papal visit will double as what politicians in this country call a 'listening tour,'" which, in essence, is telling the Pope to shut his mouth. The LA Times instructs the Pope that Catholic politicians should not have to compromise "responsibility to their constituents or the Constitution." This is the LA Times definition of "separation of church and state" - the church should keep their opinion out of public life.
