In Fairfax VA, parents hold "baccalaureates" for their graduating students - private worship services for graduates. Superintendent Jack Dale issued a policy that banned all school staff from attending or participating in baccalaureates - suppressing the religious practices of staff during personal time, outside of school. Dale has since backed-off his policy, but still restricts principals from participating. Officials still believe the policy oversteps its legal bounds.
