Ex-Satanist Reviews Latest
Harry Potter Book

Jeff Harshbarger, a former Satanist and founder of Refuge Ministries, published a review of the Harry Potter book, Half Blood Prince. Harchbarger considers the Potter books a hook into the occult - "adding a teaspoon of sugar to the poison makes it taste good and easy to swallow." Along with making the occult attractive, there is excessive violence, denigration of parents and other adults, taking the Lords' name in vain and no mention of Jesus, Heaven or Hell.

Book Review: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince - An ex Satanist looks at the new book

Jeff Harshbarger states in his personal testimony, "I found out that there was a 'power' or demons were available, thus I began to pursue traditional Satanism ... I ended up being possessed by demons because I gave myself over to them in exchange for their 'power'. After coming to Jesus Christ, I was delivered from the demons."

In her article
Interview: Harry Potter - Making Evil Look Innocent?, journalist and film maker Caryl Matrisciana states:

  • Hundreds of children believe Harry's Hogwart's school of witchcraft and wizardry really exists and they want to attend it.
  • Wiccan group Children of Artemis say "there is a growing interest in the Wiccan religion.... and Harry Potter has had a positive effect."
  • The London Times reported hundreds of teenage girls every month who want "to join covens to learn about casting spells" and "rejecting Christianity and the Church for witchcraft"
  • Children want to learn how to put spells on their teachers, boyfriends, girlfriends and that Potter books "inspired" them.

The Australian Hexenschule school of witchcraft reports surge in recruitment as a result of the success of Harry Potter.
