PTA and NEA Demonstrate Discrimination Against Conservatives

Sissy Jochmann, Chair of the NEA Conservative Educators Caucus, attended the recent Parent Teachers Association (PTA) national convention and the National Education Association's (NEA) convention. Jochmann outlines the discriminatory actions of both PTA and NEA leadership and members towards conservatives on the Christian Educators Association International (CEAI) web site.

The PTA decided to include the pro-homosexual organization Parents and Friends of Lesbian’s and Gays (PFLAG) and banned the more conservative Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays (PFOX) organization. According to Ron Schlittler, PFLAG’s assistant executive director, it is because "Our beliefs are superior." The PFOX organization conducted a parallel conference, including presentations from Warren Throckmorton, PhD,

The NEA convention allowed the Chair of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Caucus to present a "comprehensive strategy" to support Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) students, families, and staff members while accusing Christians of attacking schools, labeling them "extremists." When Jochmann was able to present a response, she was booed and her message ignored. Perhaps the torch-bearers of tolerance and "no name calling" need some of their own training.
