Atheists around the country scheduled anti-prayer rallies to disrupt the May 5th National Day of Prayer events. One such effort took place in Boise Idaho, where the Idaho Atheists reserved the Statehouse steps leading into the National Day of Prayer. “It was supposed to be a disruption, but it didn’t cause a disruption,” said Gov. Dirk Kempthorne, a Christian and participant in the National Day of Prayer. “I chose to be here because I believe in God,” he said. “I don’t believe that when you become governor of the state, you have to sacrifice your personal belief.”
