There are roughly 50 millions sport fishermen in the United States, according to the U.S. National Fish and Wildlife Service. This has spawned a number of ministries that lead people to Jesus Christ through fishing. Fishing ministries such as: Fellowship of Christian Anglers Society; Let's Go Fishing Ministries; Fishers of Men; The Bass Anglers Sportsman Society; Team Jesus Ministries.
"The New Testament is replete with references to fishing and Jesus often taught and performed miracles with fishing as the backdrop," states the Charisma Today/Religion News Services.
According to Terry Chupp, founder and president of Team Jesus Ministries, over 5,000 people have professed faith since 1987 as a result of the ministry.
