Eliminating the "Before Christ" (B.C.) Dating Notation

There was an uproar in Australia when a school exam replaced the centuries old dating notation of B.C. ("Before Christ") with B.C.E. ("Before Common Era"). Parents registered their complaints and a parliament education minister, Jillian Skinner, even declared "The government is indoctrinating their children against terminology that has been around for centuries."
